Junior Jug Team 2015 L-R: Koralie Key, Lynne Key, Tara Jenkins, Emily Cannavan, Jan Cannavan

In June I had the pleasure of accompanying 3 wonderful girls to attend the Junior Jug tournament hosted by Womens Golf Gold Coast. The event was held over 4 days at Beaudesert Golf Club.

The NQ team members were Koralie Key of Rowes Bay, Emily Cannavan of Home Hill and Tara Jenkins of Ayr. We were also accompanied by Jan Cannavan,

Although the weather was kind, and surprisingly warm, the course proved to be very tough and challenging. The pin positions proved to be very difficult as were the greens.

The girls competed against golfers from six other Queensland districts. All girls played exceptional golf, proving to be tough competitors against girls with +1 handicaps. Every day NQ girls took the games through to the last hole, showing their ability and competitiveness. We had some wins, we had some losses, but overall the girls did the NQ district very proud. Throughout the tournament the NQ team formed many lasting friendships and were highly regarded by all teams.

To top off a wonderful time Tara shot an Eagle during her last round.

Although NQ didnt come home with an overall win, they drew 5th and presented as excellent ambassadors for the NQ district. Gold Coast and Downs South West were the equal winners of the tournament.

Thank you,
Lynne Key
