To our sport and recreation community

As you may be aware, the Minister for Sport recently announced the development of a new sport and recreation capital grants program, and we are excited to be launching Active Gameday Projects.

This new program will invest $9.726 million to help community sport and active recreation clubs to fund field of play works that meet grassroots level playing requirements and that will enhance greater community participation.

There are two types of projects available for funding:

  • installing or upgrading of sports lighting
  • developing or upgrading of playing surfaces/space(s) including irrigation.

Funding from $50,000 up to $150,000 (GST exclusive) will be available for eligible organisations and projects who are able contribute a minimum 20 per cent of their project’s cost.*

These are the kinds of projects that will ensure clubs and organisations can maintain a quality field of play for their members to participate safely, while also having the potential to create more opportunities for people to train or compete across more days, and nights.

Funding applications will open on Monday 27 September 2021 and close at 5pm on Friday 5 November 2021 with successful applicants announced early next year.

We strongly encourage clubs and organisations to thoroughly read the Active Gameday Projects’ program guidelines and associated resources to determine if your potential project meets the program requirements, and to aid your preparations towards developing a strong application before the program opens for applications next month.

If you’d like to discuss your potential project,  we ask you to contact your local sport and recreation office to discuss club priorities and possible outcomes.
