This notice is to advise you of the upcoming special general meeting of Golf North Queensland Inc. The details of this meeting are as follows:

Elections for the following positions will be held during this meeting
President
Northern Zone Delegate
Western Zone Delegate
Sothern Zone Delegate
In accordance with clause 5.2 in the association’s constitution, the term of office for board members is two years and the board has the power to determine the sequence of retirements for board members to ensure rotational terms, whereby approximately one half of the board members retire in each year.
Bylaw 2.1.3 in the association’s bylaws stipulates that the sequence of retirements for board members is as follows:
- in each year of even number, the president and all zone delegates shall retire from office but are eligible, on nomination, for re-election; and
- in each year of odd number, the vice president (men), vice president (women) and treasurer shall retire from office but are eligible, on nomination, for re-election.
Accordingly, elections for the vice president (men), vice president (women) and treasurer will be held at the association’s AGM, scheduled for Sunday 24 October 2021.
The association’s bylaws, adopted in August 2021, reflect a variation from the previous cycle of board retirements.
To address any concerns that may exist amongst affiliated clubs regarding the terms of office for the president and zone delegates, the board has decided to hold a special general meeting for the purpose of holding elections for these four positions. These elections will be for a 1-year term, which will commence the rotational system of retirements in line with the association’s updated constitution and bylaws.
