MyGolf Sporting Schools program

Sporting Schools funding applications for Term 1 open TODAY, 8 November, and will be open for two weeks until Friday, 19 November!
Now is the time to get in touch with your local schools, encourage them to apply and let them know you are keen to deliver their MyGolf Sporting Schools program.

PGA Professionals and Community Instructors play a key role in the delivery of the MyGolf Sporting Schools program.

Sporting Schools is a $280 million Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children’s participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities.

Any school can register and apply so there is sure to be a local school in your area that could be looking to run a Sporting Schools program, so now is your chance to make sure it is MyGolf.

Coaches receive payment (approximately $88 – $120 per session) for their time but most importantly can create a pathway for children to transition into your local MyGolf Club program.

Schools will be able to apply for Sporting Schools funding as of Monday, November 8.

If you are interested in potentially delivering a MyGolf Sporting Schools program, it is recommended that you get into contact with your local school to see if they would be interested in applying for the funding and then having you deliver their program, or contacting your State/Territory Sporting Schools coordinator (below) to become part of the coaching network.

Please note: To be eligible to deliver a Sporting Schools program, you must be a qualified PGA Professional OR hold a current Community Instructor Accreditation. You must also be able to provide and maintain a valid State/Territory Working with Children Clearance.

Steps to get involved and stay involved

Check out the MyGolf Schools Guide for all the information you will need to know about School program and Sporting Schools.

Share the MyGolf Schools Guide with your local school contacts so they can see all that the program is about – this can be used as a great promotional tool around Sporting Schools Funding periods to encourage the schools to apply for funding and request golf!
Contact mygolfschools@golf.org.au if you would like printed copies to provide to schools.

Ensure your PGA or Community Instructor Accreditation is current.

Make sure you are a part of the Sporting Schools Coach Network (contact your state representative below) and you hold and have sent through a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).

Your Golf Australia/State Golf representative will contact you if a school in your local area has been successful in gaining funding and wants to run a coach-delivered program.

If a school contacts you directly to let you know they’ve been successful in gaining Sporting Schools funding and want you to deliver their program, make sure to tell them to upload a coach-delivered program into the Sporting Schools Booking System. This forms part of the Term and Conditions of being involved.

Once you have been assigned as the coach for a program booking, you will receive an email (from info@sportingschools.gov.au) with the program details. Please ensure you click ACCEPT at the bottom of this email to confirm.

Before the first session, ensure you have made contact with the school to confirm program details & coaching fees*, that you are aware of school policies around child protection and Covid-19 and that the school will have access to equipment for the program.

In the current climate, before entering a school, all GA endorsed coaches must ensure you have read and understood the Covid-19 Coaching Guidelines and implement the relevant hygeine and safety measures when delivering your programs.

Deliver a fun, safe and engaging MyGolf Sporting Schools program by following the curriculum resources provided.

Promote the local MyGolf program by providing certificates, posters or flyers including the Unique URL of the program. (These are all available through the deliverer or coordinator dashboards on the GA participation portal)

Invoice the school directly for coaching fees at the completion of the program.

* The recommended coaching fee per session is $90 – $120 (incl. GST). This price range will be dependant on the amount of sessions schools wish to deliver in the one day. We want to ensure MyGolf Sporting Schools remains an accessible option for schools, with schools and coaches still given scope to negotiate this to ensure any travel costs are covered. This must align with the supported costs outlined on the Sporting Schools Spending Factsheet.

ClubConnect Opportunities

Sporting Schools Club Connect will enable primary schools to build on their involvement in the Sporting Schools program by establishing and building on relationships with local sporting clubs.

Eligible schools can apply for a Club Connect grant (between 25 October – 6 November)  to deliver an out of school hours sport program by engaging a Club Connect partner national sporting organisation, that delivers one of the Sporting Schools Club Connect sports. Programs can be delivered across Terms 1 &/or 2, 2022

Schools successful in gaining funding and who have reached out to Golf Australia to express their interest in a golf program will be advised to travel to their local golf facility to complete the Club Connect program (out of school hours). Golf Australia staff will connect any interested schools with the local MyGolf deliverer.

Coaching fees for Club Connect programs can be charged at a higher rate per session, depending on the number of students participating.

Coach fees:*

  • 4x 1-hour sessions to 10-15 students = $600
  • 4 x 1-hour sessions to 15-30 students = $1,000
  • *Additional session(s) will incur the following costs:
  • Delivery to 10-15 students = $150 per session
  • Delivery to 15-30 students = $250 per session

Discounted MyGolf Registration
All students who participate in the Club Connect MyGolf offering will be provided a registration subsidy when enrolling into the local MyGolf program. Golf Australia will provide coaches with flyers containing unique discount codes for students to register into their local program, and will cover the gap between the discounted rate and program cost.

Please note, all coaches who are linked with Club Connect programs will need to be delivering MyGolf at their local facility.
