Grant Ward Scholarship
(2014/2015)

Emily Cannavan

Firstly I would like to thank Golf North Queensland for choosing me as the female recipient of the 2014/15 Grant Ward Scholarship. By allowing me this, I have been able to strengthen my golf game and travel to state competitions I would not usually be able to attend.

The results of the Golf North Queensland Junior Opens that I attended are as follows:

Home Hill Jnr – 2nd

Ayr Jnr – 1st

 Townsville Jnr – 1st

 Rowes Bay Jnr – 1st

 Bowen Jnr – 1st

 Cairns Jnr – 1st

 Half Moon Bay Jnr– 1st

Home Hill Ladies Open – 1st

 Ayr Closed Championship – 1st

Junior Jug – Won 6/4, Square, 1 Down

In the local golf season so far this year I have won the Ayr closed championships by 11 shots shooting 1 over par for 27 holes. I have also won the Home Hill ladies open by 6 shots shooting 2 over 73.

I am looking forward to the rest of the golfing year as I feel that my game is really improving. My handicap is currently 4.5 which is the lowest it has been and this is partly due to the experience I have gained as the Grant Ward recipient.

Below are some photos of my time at the Greg Norman Junior Masters, the State Girls Championships and the Katherine Kirk Classic.
