I am very excited to start getting more frequent golf lessons and to achieve my goals. So thank you very much for awarding me this scholarship, I really do appreciate it.

Since applying in May, I have managed to drop my handicap another 2.3 strokes, I now play off 6.1. So far this year I have been able to practice more often as I do not have many other commitments apart from two jobs. I have been practicing at least 5 mornings a week either at the golf course or the driving range. This has been proven to help my game significantly as since spending more time on golf, this year alone I have taken 7.7 strokes off my handicap which I am very proud of. My next goal which I am sure I will reach fairly soon is to have a handicap of below 5.

Besides from lowering my handicap, I have achieved a few other achievements such as coming 2nd in the A grade Mackay club championships for ladies gross. I was very happy with this result as the year before I played terrible golf in this same competition. Unfortunately the first game of the Club champs was not my best but even with this score I am very happy with the way I played. I had gross scores of 86, 80, 80 and 75. Over these four days I tied my personal best gross score twice (80) and smashed it with a new personal best on the last day with a gross of 75. This meant that three out of the four days I either hit to my handicap or lower, it was only the first day I didn’t play to my handicap. In total over the four days this meant that I only had 1 over my handicap which put me in first place for nett out of all the ladies playing in the competition. This was the first time I had hit in the 70’s for gross so that was my personal highlight of the competition. Since then I have managed to hit a few other games in the 70’s. This is something that seemed very challenging at the beginning of the year and I now know that hitting gross scores in the 70’s is more than possible to do in every game I play from now on.

Unfortunately due to holidays and work commitments I was only able to play one of the four games of the junior NQ sugar circuit competition. I played the last day of the competition at the Mackay golf course. I was able to come 1st for the girls with a ten shot lead on 2nd place. My next competition is the ladies pennants at the end of this month which I am looking forward to. That is all for now but here is a photo from a little while ago where I found my favourite animal on the green of hole 1 at the Mackay golf course.

Thank you again, I will keep you updated on my progress.

Kind regards, Dominique Paice

First of all I would like to thank North Queensland Golf for giving me this opportunity.
