GRANT WARD SCHOLARSHIP

KYLE DOWDE

This is my first report since being awarded the Grant Ward Scholarship for 2019/2020. I would firstly like to thank the NQ District Board members for selecting me as the male recipient for the current period.

The NQ district has also provided a great benefit with the development squads supported by Golf Australia held in Mackay and Townsville and QLD State Coach Richard Woodhouse being present supported in Mackay by local professional Jeff Reid.

The 2019 NQ Junior Tournament season has now been completed I attended Townsville which despite the damaging floods put on great courses and I had some mixed results. Rain prevented me from attending Ayr and Home Hill but I did manage to play Bowen and Proserpine where I was able to defend both Junior Boy titles.

I played both junior amateur events midyear in QLD (Carbrook) and NSW (Belmont & Charlestown) where again I finished with mixed results but I am better for the experience. I also represented Capricornia at the school titles held in Keepera

I played several Mens Opens and Pro Ams those of note being the Proserpine Pro Am where I finished best amateur 6th overall in a full field.

I am currently getting ready for the Gary Player held in the September school holidays and I have been invited to the coaching clinic the weekend prior to be held at Pelican Waters where I will again see Richard.

I am currently focusing on my ball striking with current goals being the lowering of my handicap and qualifying for the Greg Norman Junior Masters.

I will further update you towards the end of the year with my progress and again thank you for the opportunities which this scholarship has provided
