Hills Academy September Camp- CLOSED

Golf North Queensland is calling for Juniors wishing to attend Hills Academy 5 day coaching camp, at no cost to be held at Hills Golf Academy from Saturday 28th September to Wednesday 2nd October. Please note; travel cost are not covered 

GNQ will make a selection from nominations received by 30 JUNE and notify those selected by the second week of August. 

Hills International Golf Academy will be conducting its annual holiday golf camp during the second week of the September school holidays. It is with pleasure that we invite two representatives (1 boy & 1 girl) from your District, at no cost, to attend our 5 day coaching camp which is to be held at Hills Golf Academy from Saturday 28th September to Wednesday 2nd October.  Please note; travel cost are not covered

Because we are blessed with cutting edge technology (such as Trackman and Puttlab) and high quality coaches that is not always available in certain Districts, the Academy felt it was our way to help promote the game of golf within this great State of ours.

The nominated players will reside at the Hills dormitory during the camp and will be provided all meals. During the camp, attendees will go through a series of skills testing and data gathering as well as some information on technique, rules, and game plan strategies which will be conducted by the Hills coaching staff members who are all well respected PGA professionals. A schedule of the camp is attached.

If the players brings along a USB device, we can download all data gathered (Trackman, Puttlab and skills test results) for them to take back to their coach. During the last two days of the camp, the players will compete in the Hills Junior Classic which is a Greg Norman Masters open qualifier for the SEQDGA District.

2019 JGQ Regional Development Program – Townsville

2019 JGQ Regional Development Program – Townsville

Junior golfers located in Townsville and surrounds will have the opportunity to access specialised coaching from Queensland State Coach/PGA Professional, Richard Woodhouse , Golf Australia Coach Scott Simons and Local PGA Member Steven Oliver. Parents and participating juniors will also learn about Queensland’s Participation Pathway and Talent Identification process.

Participating juniors will have fun, acquire new skills, have autonomy and interact with like-minded junior golfers.

To be involved with this program, the following conditions apply:

You will:

  • Have an official GA handicap of 25 or less with an affiliated golf club within your District – No 9 or 13 hole players will be accepted
  • Be aged between 12 and 17 years of age
  • Have agreed to the participant terms and conditions of this program. 
  • Be a financial member of JGQ to access the program free of charge. If you are not a financial member of Junior Golf Queensland, there will be a nomination fee of $150.

The program will be conducted at The Tropics Golf Club Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th August. Below is a schedule for the program:

MyGolf Junior League Introductory Day

Golf Australia and Golf North Queensland 

invites your club to participate in a

MyGolf Junior League Introductory Day

to be held at the Mackay Golf Club

on Wednesday 25 September 2019

starting from 1 PM.

MyGolf Junior League is Australia’s national junior golf teams-based competition designed to develop and promote participation in golf.

It provides an introduction to playing golf in a fun, teams-based and modified environment.

Participants learn new skills, make new friends and most importantly, HAVE FUN!

To participate in this fun event, please can you complete the MGJL  (click to open)– Mackay document (click to open) on behalf of your club + participants and return this to Scott Simons by no later than Wednesday 18 September 2019. The teams for this event will be decided upon close of entries and will include juniors from Mackay, Black Springs, Pioneer Valley, Proserpine and Sarina. We would like to give all clubs and selected juniors within these clubs the opportunity to experience MyGolf Junior League. Please note that participants must not to have an official 18 hole Golf Australia handicap and be aged between five to twelve years of age.

MyGolf Junior Leagues Rules (click to open). You will note that the format is a two person ambrose on a modified golf course. Golf Australia staff will be present at this day and will be available for discussions pre and post the event.

There will be an official registration and information session for all junior coordinators, parents and juniors participating. This will take place from 1 PM.

About My Golf

MyGolf is Australia’s national junior introductory program to develop and promote participation in golf. A 10 week introductory program to the sport, the MyGolf program is designed for 5 to 12 year olds and is the major driver of junior golf participation in Australia.

Through the MyGolf program, we aim to increase participation and engagement in golf by children, and provide a fun, accessible and satisfying introduction to the sport of golf by promoting skills development, as well as the social and fun aspects of the sport, to the wider community.

GNQ Junior Jug Inter-District Match Play Team

The format of the Junior Jug Tournament is match play competition of 6 rounds over a period of 4 days with some days requiring players to play 36 holes.  The team consists of 3 junior female players plus 2 adult female officials.

Player Selection Criteria

Junior female financial member who’s home club is affiliated with Golf NQ

Junior female players under the age of 18 years

Junior female players with handicaps of 18 or less shall be considered

Players shall nominate for the team through the approved process

Player performance at events is taken into consideration and is monitored via Golflink

Consideration will be given to experience, general behaviour, attitude and conduct

The team will be selected by the Golf NQ Junior Coordinator in conjunction with relevant members of the GNQ Committee by 30 April each year
